## Our Senegalese Sarr

> Ismaïla Sarr became the club’s third signing of the 2024/25 summer transfer window after joining on a five-year deal from Olympique de Marseille.

The 26-year-old attacker possesses plenty of experience of English football, having spent four years at Watford – recording 34 goals and 22 assists in 131 games – prior to joining Marseille, whom he helped reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League last season.

Sarr's career began in French football with Metz, before moving to Rennes and leading the club into Europe, as well as winning their first Coupe de France in almost half a century.

At international level, he has been a mainstay of the Senegal national side, earning 64 caps, scoring 13 goals and winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.

His career has also been defined by his eye for the spectacular, having won Goal of the Season awards in both the Football League and the Europa League.

The venue will be open from **09:00 – 15:45 BST,** with tickets priced at **£10 for entry**. Pre-booked tickets are valid until 12:30.

**Please note that, BOXPARK is an FA Cup Final** **match ticket only entry**. **Supporters will have to show their match ticket upon entry.** BOXPARK will not be screening the match. All those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 25.

Once again, we have also been allocated the **Arena Square Fan Zone** on the West side of Wembley stadium, perfect for groups and families.

A Palace takeover is expected with a number of activities planned, including mascots Pete and Alice the Eagles; performances the Crystals cheerleaders; facepainters; music & entertainment; an inflatable goal; exclusive giveaways and even a special appearance from Phoenix the Eagle.

A legends Q&A session will also take place, while food and drinks will also be available.

Doors for the Arena Square Fan Zone open at **11:00 BST and close at 16:00.**

The Arena Square Fan Zone is free to enter, but you must present your stadium ticket for entry. You will also be subject to a bag check – stadium bag restrictions and regulations apply.

As a reminder to all supporters, street drinking in the areas **surrounding Wembley Stadium is not permitted**, so a Wembley Fan Zone or local pub is the best place for supporters to go to soak up the pre-match atmosphere.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been a near-constant presence in Darren Powell’s Under-21s side this season, making 28 out of a possible 29 appearances so far, with the [Premier League 2 play-off semi-final still to come](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/announcement/crystal-palace-southampton-u21-premier-league-2-play-off-semi-final-tickets-live-stream-selhurst-park).

He netted 11 times in those 28 games, including three sensational strikes against Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea recently, and has also registered a further seven assists.

His form this season also saw him earn a call-up to the senior Sierra Leone national team for the very first time, where he scored in his second-ever appearance during an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Zambia.

Mustapha was also a part of the first-team squad which faced HamKam in a mid-season friendly back in March - a month in which he was also nominated for the PL2 Player of the Month award.

The midfielder is the youngest of the eight players nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award and the winner will be announced at the Premier League Academy Awards evening on Tuesday, 13th May.

After an incredible 2024/25 season, Crystal Palace Under-21s midfielder Hindolo Mustapha has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award.

Palace and City have never previously met in a cup final. However, on four previous occasions the two sides have been drawn out of the hat together in the earlier rounds.

You have to go back to 1921 for the first of these meetings, with City heading[ to the Nest ](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/club/on-this-day-crystal-palace-last-match-the-nest-1924/)for an FA Cup first round tie - no byes to the third round for top-tier clubs in those days.

It meant First Division City, who would go on to finish league runners-up, were firm favourites against Palace, who were in the newly-created Third Division.

Yet it was the Glaziers who would win the day, securing a superb 2-0 win to send high-flying City crashing out. That success from 104 years ago, remains our solitary success against the Citizens in the FA Cup. 

The next meeting is best forgotten from a Palace perspective, an 11-4 (no that's not a cricket score) defeat in the fifth round in 1926, at Maine Road.

55 years passed before the next tie between the two, a third round meeting in 1981 where City came out on top 4-0.

And the most recent FA Cup meeting was back in Pep Guardiola's first season as City manager, at Selhurst Park, when goals from Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane and Yaya Toure secured a 3-0 success for the visitors. 

Palace's most recent win, in any cup tie against City, came in the League Cup, back in January 1995. A side featuring Nigel Martyn, Gareth Southgate and Chris Armstrong destroyed Brian Horton's team, with Darren Pitcher, John Salako, Armstrong and Andy Preece all on target in a 4-0 route.

### **Last time out**

The two sides met in the Premier League only last month, at the Etihad Stadium, with City eventually triumphing 5-2, but that doesn't quite tell the full story of an exciting, unusual game.

Palace raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of Ebere Eze and Chris Richards. Only an extremely narrow VAR semi-automated offside call denied Eze another, as the Eagles looked like running away with it.

But Kevin De Bruyne turned the game with a masterful free-kick, with Guardiola's team eventually recovering to go in 2-2 at the break, before adding three goals after the break.

The reverse game at Selhurst Park was also a thriller. Daniel Munoz and Maxence Lacroix scored either side of half-time as Palace were only narrowly denied victory by City, in a 2-2 draw.

Could the third meeting between the two clubs this season prove to be third time lucky for Palace? Here's hoping.
